Mountain village in the heart of the Italian Alps

Breuil-Cervinia

Breuil-Cervinia is the Italian home of the world’s most famous mountain: the Matterhorn, or as it is known by the locals here in this country, Gran Becca. There are many reasons to visit this area.

Recommendation

Hospitality is a key theme everywhere around the Matterhorn. Whether it’s a hotel, B&B, farmhouse, villa, apartment or mountain hut you’re looking for, the Aosta Valley has an extensive range of accommodation on offer that’s sure to meet the most discerning of tastes.

Besides the superb natural surroundings and plethora of sporting activities on offer, the Italian cuisine is a treat not to be missed. Traditional dishes and typical Italian food are the perfect complement to your Italian stay, whether served by the ski slopes or in one of the village restaurants at the foot of the Matterhorn.

With its vastness and majestic appearance, the Matterhorn (or “the most elegant rock in Europe” as one bygone admirer described it) has always been an irresistible attraction for lovers of mountain sports. The traditional figure of the mountain guide remains an important aspect of life here today, along with many other traditions which are still carried on and celebrated.

You’ll find it hard to forget this valley once you’ve seen it, especially if you have personally gazed in admiration at the Matterhorn. But Mother Nature was not satisfied with creating just one masterpiece – there are also lakes in which the beautiful surroundings are reflected, woods, serene meadows, roaring waterfalls and more besides. There is so much to see and explore around the Matterhorn.

Breuil-Cervinia is not only one of Italy’s best-known resorts, it is also a place of academic and sporting achievements which attract a variety of events to the village at the foot of the Gran Becca. Along with a large number of of outdoor activities these provide an opportunity to relax or get caught up in the excitement of an event.
