THE ZERMATT EXPERIENCE

Recommendations

With around 300 days of sunshine a year, the Matterhorn practically within touching distance and all the other peaks calling out to be explored, it's no surprise that people come to Zermatt from all over the world. The mountain village has been able to maintain is age-old charm to this day. The past is there to see in its winding alleyways and in the “Hinterdorf” part of town with its larchwood barns.

Pure mountain air. Did you know that only electric vehicles without internal combustion engines are allowed in Zermatt? So no fumes! It’s hard to believe, but the village has always been car-free.

The Matterhorn is special in many ways, with its almost symmetrical pyramid shape, its contours from the Hörnli to the Löwen ridge, and its location in the Alps – it stands almost alone, making it the perfect subject for photographs. Mystic, iconic and unmistakable, the most-photographed mountain in the world watches over the villages of Zermatt and Breuil-Cervinia.

Hospitality in Zermatt is a promise well kept. Many hotels and restaurants are family businesses which have kept their traditions alive through several generations. They offer the highest levels of comfort, fabulous spa facilities, quality gastronomy and sustainable modern design and operating concepts. It is hardly surprising therefore that Zermatt’s hotels regularly feature in the top reviews published by various platforms.

Cafés, restaurants and mountain restaurants of the highest standard with superb summer terraces, the best views and a welcoming atmosphere: in Zermatt good food and drink is a matter of priority. From traditional fare to international cuisine and exciting fusions, in Zermatt there is always something new to savour.

They will find a wide range of activities to enjoy in and around the alpine village. The Zermatt Matterhorn resort lies at the heart of the Swiss Alps and is home to the legendary Matterhorn. But there are many other reasons why the area is one of the most popular destinations in the world. For example, the three peaks of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, Rothorn and Gornergrat. Each is as unique as the adventures that await there. They share one thing in common, however: their “grown-up neighbour”, the Matterhorn, appears to protect them as it rises majestically from the valley next to them. You can find out straight away which peak is most likely to provide your personal moment of happiness.
